OneofmyfavoritepassagesintheBibleiswhenJoshuaandtheIsraelitestookoverthecityofJericho.Jerichohadamassivewallbuiltaroundthecitythatnoarmycouldpenetrate.Butthatdidn’tstopGodfromgivingthemthevictory.HesimplycommandedtheIsraelitestomarcharoundthecityinsilenceforsixdays,andontheseventhdaytheyweretogiveashoutofpraise.

It’sinterestingthattheyhadtoshoutbeforethewallscamedown.Itseemsmorenaturaltoshoutandbehappyafterthevictory,afterthewallshavefallen.Butno,thatdoesn’ttakeanyfaith.WecanallsingandgiveGodpraisewhenwe’reonthemountaintop.ButGodwantsustolearntogiveHimpraisewhenwe’reinthevalley.

Ifyouarefacingdifficultytoday,ifthereseemstobemassivewallsstandinginthewayofyourbreakthrough,remember,praiseprecedesthevictory.Whydon’tyoudoliketheIsraelitesandgiveashoutofpraiseanyway.StandandbelievethatGodisatworkevenifyoudon’tseeit.Beforelong,thosewallswillcomedown,andyou’llmoveforwardintothevictoryHehaspreparedforyou!
