Registrationforthe2011BostonMarathonwillopenonMonday,October18,2010at9:00a.m.(ET)andwillbeconductedonlineatwww.baa.org.The115thrunningoftheBostonMarathonwillbeonMonday,April18,2011:Patriots’DayintheCommonwealthofMassachusetts.
EntrantsqualifyfortheBostonMarathonbymeetingtheB.A.A.’stimestandardswhichcorrespondtoageandgender,andthequalifyingstandardsforthe2011raceremainunchangedfromrecentyears.Qualifyingstandardsforthe2011BostonMarathonmustbemetonorafterSeptember20,2009atamarathoncertifiedbyUSATrack&Field,thenationalgoverningbodyforthesport(orforeignequivalent).Also,theregistrationfeewillremainat$130USDforresidentsoftheUSA.
JohnHancockFinancialistheprincipalsponsoroftheBostonMarathonforthe26thconsecutiveyear.Duringthattime,theracehasgrownfrom4,904entrantsin1986to26,790entrants(22,721finishers)in2010.Thefieldsizefor2011willremainthesameasin2010.TheB.A.A.hasorganizedtheracesincetheinauguralBostonMarathonin1897whenthefieldconsistedof15startersand10finishers.
Forthe2010BostonMarathon,theracefilledinjustovertwomonths.TheB.A.A.anticipatesthemaximumfieldsizeforthe2011racewillbereachedfasterthanlastyear,andthosewhohavemetthequalifyingstandardsareencouragedtoenterearly.

The2011BostonMarathonwillfollowthehistoric,26.2mile,point-to-pointcoursewhichbeginsintheTownofHopkinton,includesAshland,Framingham,Natick,Wellesley,Newton,andBrookline,andfinishesinBoston’sBackBayatCopleySquare.
