새해결심(NewYear’sresolutions)
작심삼일(作心三日)을’can’tkeepone’sresolutionslongerthanafewdays’라고표현한다.늘단명(短命)에그친다고해서’bealwaysshort-lived’라고도한다.

▲새로운것을시도하라(Trysomethingnew)=실패한결심을되풀이해봐야(repeatresolutionsyouhavefailed)성공확률이낮다.실패했던체중감량결심대신운동을더하겠다는새다짐을해보라(vowtoexercisemore).
▲S.M.A.R.T목표설정=구체적(Specific),측정가능(Measurable),성취가능(Achievable),현실적(Realistic),시간단위(Time-based)목표를잡아라.매주이틀씩뜀뛰기를한다고(gorunningontwodayseachweek)하지말고,화요일·목요일일과직후(straightafterwork)에한다는식으로명시하라.
▲성과를도표화하라(Plotyoursuccess)=일지를쓰거나(keepajournal)냉장고·게시판에관련그래프나그림을붙여놓아라(coveryourfridgeornoticeboardwithgraphsorpictures).
▲끈질겨야한다(Bepersistent)=이따금(onceinawhile)과거의당신으로돌아갈(reverttotheoldyou)수도있다.누구나가끔은망가질(messupfromtimetotime)때가있다.포기하지말고(donotgiveup)밀고나가라(moveon).
