지난11월중순(사)한국국제개발연구소(KIDI)와연세대학교보건대학원이함께추진하고있는KOICA의<가나볼타지역모자보건개선사업>의2차교육이가나현지에서진행되었습니다.
미국의USAID와협력하는이사업은조산사양성학교건축과가나볼타지역보건인력의역량강화교육등의다양한사업으로구성되어있으며올해초부터시작한사업은2016년까지3년간하고마치게됩니다.
가나볼타지역에프로젝트사무소가개설되었으며현지PM과가나보건전문가등현지인력들이채용되어함께일을하고있습니다.ODA사업과가나에대한열정과전문성으로프로젝트에참여하는전문가분들그리고지원을아끼지않는관계자들에게늘감사합니다.

Onthefirstdayofthetraining,Dr.JosephNuerteyvisitedthetrainingsiteinAflaoandencouragedtrainees.Itwastimeforhimtoseeandhearthetroublesandneedsoffutureleadersofmaternalandchildhealth.HealsogavespeciallectureonthematernalandchildhealthintheVoltaregion.Itwasa
greatopportunitytobringthegovernmentandthestudentstogether.

Inthe2ndpackageofthetraining,PhysicalAssistant(PA)trainingwasnewlyadded.Currently,thenumberofdoctorsinGhanalackssignificantlycomparedtoincomingpatients.Inplaceofdoctors,PAsperformtheadvancedmedicineincloserareastopatients.Theyarelearninghowtousesonographtodetectdetailedproblemsduringpregnancy.
WelcometoMidwifetrainingroom.Forthe2ndtraining,wefocusedontheactualskillsusedtoperformintheemergency.
Hereisababydummyandmedicaltools.(andatimer!Ofcourse,timeisveryimportantinurgentsituation.)
Afacilitatorshowstomidwiveswhattheyshoulddowhenbabiesdonotbreatheafterbirth.Theylearntheskillsbytheirhandsandrepeattheprocess.Thiswillhelpwhentheygointoreallifesettings.
CHNsarelearningaboutfamilyplanning.Theyareeducatednotonlyonthecontentsoffamilyplanningbutalsoonthemethodsofdeliveringthatinformationeffectively.
OneofCHNtraineesislookingafterababyafterthetheorysessiononpostpartumcare.Inthesecondtraining,wemadeasmoothtransitionfromtheorysessiontopracticum.Thesamefacilitatorinstructedthepracticumonthesametopic,sotraineescanactuallyapplywhattheylearnedinthetheorysession.Whentheycamebacktotheclassafterpracticum,theydiscussedtheirexperiencesandreviewedtheirskills.
WeeducatedCommunityHealthCommittee(CHC)traineesaswell.Theywillgobacktotheircommunityandbealeaderofcommunityhealth.CHCandCHVshowedthehighestsatisfactionscoreforthesecondtrainingperiod.Facilitatorsusedrealcondomandbirthcontrolpilltoexplaincontraception.
WemetthiswomanandachildattheplaceofpracticumforCHNs.Shewasholdingababydoll,andweaskedwhyjustoutofcuriosity.Adollwasactuallyanimpersonationofherdeadfirstchild.Shedidnotwanttoforgetherandhavecarriedthedolltoremindherofherchild.Thisisexactlywhywewilldoourbesttoprovidethebesteducationforhealthservicepersonnel;wewillmakesureamotherwillcarryherhealthybeautifulchildnotadollwithher.
