초여름初夏밤의한바탕의꿈이다

이른아침한강산책길에

반소매반바지차림이자연스럽다.

몸을감싸며지나가는바람을안고

한바탕뒹굴고싶은마음이드니.

어디선가언제쯤인가기억저편의식속의냄새가

스멀스멀거리며후각을자극하는데

무엇일까잠시생각하다가산을올려다보니

산마다밤나무꽃이뭉게구름처럼피어오르고.

구수하기도하고구린내같기도하고

속이메슥거리기도하고아주묘한향香이다.

밤나무꽃이피기시작하면

과부가잠못이루는밤을지낸다고했는데

이제는다옛이야기아닐까.

우리는모두자유분방한세상에살고있으니말이다.

애인없는사람은장애인이라고하지않던가.

문득,,이이른아침에사랑하는이를만나

아주진한밤을보내고싶다는유혹을받는다.

밤꽃향이가득한긴밤을보내고싶다.

뭉게구름처럼피어오르는밤꽃처럼

운우雲雨의정情을나누고싶다.

InAugust1954,atageof77PabloCasals(1876-1973)performedBach’sG-MajorCelloSoloatAbbaye"Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa",aCatholicmonasterylocatedsouthofthesmallbordertownPradesinFrance(CataloniaofSpainontheothersideofborder).PabloCasalssettledinPradesinearlier1940’saftertheSpanishcivilwarin1930’s,andhecamebacktoPradaastheconductorandcellistat"PradesFestival"in1950’s.AsmallmuseuminPradesisdedicatedtothememoryofPabloCasals.
PabloCasalswasoneofveryfewpoliticallyactiveclassicmusicmusicianswhoalignedthemselvespoliticallywiththeAmericangovernment.HewasanardentsupporterforSecondSpanishRepublicin1930’s.Atage85,heplayedatWhiteHouseforJ.F.Kennedywhorewardedhimthe"(American)PresidentialMedalofFreedom"twoyearslaterin1963.
Arguablythisfilmed1954performanceprobablyisnotatthebestofPabloCasals.MostcriticsconsiderthatthebestperformancesofPabloCasalsonBachCelloSoloarebackinlate1930’sandthatexistonlyinaudiorecordingsunderEMIlabel.
