이번학기를마지막으로석사과정2년을마치자마자,큰아들에게는박사과정입학이라는또다른새로운관문이기다리고있다.석사과정중에인도정부장학금(박사과정에입학할시5년간매달일정장학금을수여함)의수혜자가되었는데대부분박사과정입학전형시필기시험면제라는가산점이부여된다고한다.작년말에필기시험을치른타타연구소의면접명단에포함되었기에내심좋은결과가나기를기대하고있다.그런데지난달말에타타연구소에인터뷰를갔다온뒤에고개를갸우뚱,갸우뚱…타타연구소는60명인터뷰한학생들중에단지5-6명만선발한다하니…타타연구소의인터뷰명단에이름을올린것도대단한영광이라고들하는데…타타연구소만바라고있는아들보다도부모가애가타서다른박사과정도알아보기를채근하였다.
인터넷으로수학박사과정으로유명한대학원을찾아보던중,Mr.PratikTale이라는대학원생이일목요연하게선정해놓은것을발견하였다.그는IITRoorkee에서5년간석사통합과정을마치고TheInstituteofMathematicalScience에2013년8월박사과정에입학한사람이다.그는자신과동료의경험을바탕으로선정했다고한다.평소에듣던학교이름들이대부분언급되어있어서,신빙성이있는자료라생각되어옮겨적는다.
덕분에말수가적은큰아들로부터들을수없었던정보를알게되었고,지리적으로익숙치가않은콜카타와순수수학으로는별로라고하는IIT를제외하고큰아들은몇군데추가로입학신청을하고있다.대다수의대학원이정부장학금을받은학생들에게는입학시험을면제시켜주고인터뷰만으로선발한다고되어있다.델리소재ISI의경우학장님이가이드라인을주셨는데인터뷰전에간단한시험이있다고한다.이번여름방학중에큰아들은제대로쉬지도못하고이곳저곳에인터뷰하러다니게생겼다.
