와우~보는내내입이다물어지지않았다.화려함의극치를이룬2012런던올림픽폐막식

은정교함과영국의힘을만천하에보여준멋진이벤트가분명해보였다.영국을빛냈던예

술인들이한자리에모여세련되고도센스넘치는쇼를만들어냈으니까말이다.

사실처음부터폐막식을시청한건아니었고,한시간조금지난후영국출신밴드‘비틀즈’의

멤버였던존레논의“이매진”노래가나오면서그의얼굴을패널로만드는것부터보게됐는

데그후TV에서눈을뗄수가없었다.그후계속되는영국의가수조지마이클과오랜만에

보는그룹“유리스믹스’의전멤버애니레녹스의공연등반가운얼굴들을실컷볼수있었

던게끝까지폐막식을시청하게된이유가아닐까한다.

지금이글을쓰고있는동안내가놓쳤던앞부분이TV에서방영되고있는데,아주오래전

학창시절에좋아했던‘펫샵보이즈’의노래“WestEndGirls”가흘러나오고있다.이미오

랜세월이흘렀지만여전히세련된리듬과비트로나를행복하게만들며다양한볼거리까지

제공하고있다.

“브리티쉬팝”이라는이름을탄생시킨수많은가수들의공연을안방에서편안하게보는것

도참좋은일이지만간간히보이는참가선수단의행복해하는모습들을보는것도큰즐

거움이었고,이렇게세계의곳곳에서모여든세계인의축제가말그대로“지구촌”의축제로

보이는것도아주의미있는일인듯싶다.

물론개인적으로는좋아했던그룹“퀸”의리드싱어‘프레디머큐리’의목소리를큰화면을보

며다시들을수있었다는것도참좋은일이었고,그밖에발랄한걸그룹의효시쯤되는‘스

파이즈걸즈’가재결합해보여준화려한공연,그밖에나오미캠벨,케이트모스등수퍼모

델들의화려한런웨이행진과신나는제시제이와영국의랩퍼인티니템파의공연,그리고

비디아이,러셀브랜드,뮤즈등등수많은영국스타들의노래를화려한볼거리와함께구

경한것도정말일생에몇번가질수없는귀한기회였다고생각한다.

4년후인2016년에는브라질리오에서올림픽이열리는지라런던의시장은올림픽기를리오의

시장에게건넸고,브라질의신나는삼바댄스도선보이고축구황제펠레도나오고,불꽃놀이

까지그야말로볼게천지였던폐막식이었다.더불어올림픽성화가꺼지면서모두들아쉬운

표정이짙어졌지만<시작이있으면반드시끝이있는법>이라는말을기억하며나또한아

쉬운마음을접을수밖에없었다.
