유태인들, 그들은 도처에 있다.

프랑스 tv 방송에서 이 영화를 만든 이반 아탈을 인터뷰 하는 장면을 본 것이 몇주전이다. 호기심이 발동해서 그의 이야기를 귀기울여 들었었다.

특히 그와 삶을 나누고 있는 여자가 내가 좋아하는 가수, 세르즈 깽즈부르그의 딸이라는 사실이 내 호기심을 자극했었다. 가수 세르즈는 프랑스가  찬미하는 천재 작곡가였었고 프랑스의 미녀 여배우들을 노래하게 만든 가수로도 이름이 알려졌었다. 이미 고인이 되어버린 가수지만 그는 프랑스인들의 가슴에 남아 있는 가수이다. 인터뷰에서 알게 된 사실은 이반 아탈이 유태인이라는 것이었다.  한국인들이 높게 평가하는 유태인들이 유럽에서는 별로 환영받지 못하고 있다는 사실을 알고 있었지만 이반 아탈이 얼마나 한이 되었으면 이런 영화를 만들었을까 하는 생각도 들었다. 벼르고 벼르다가 샹젤리제에 있는 George V라는 영화관에서 드디어 이 영화를 보았다.

유태인임을 자부하면서도 도대체 왜 유태인이 배척 당하는지에 대해 의문을  많이 갖는 주인공이 심리 상담자와 상담을 하는 이야기에서 시작해서 여러 종류의  유태인 가정들을 오가면서 풍자와 유모가 섞여 진행된다. 유태인이 도대체 무얼 잘못했기에 미움을 받는것이냐고 주인공 유태인은 질문을 던진다.

175535.jpg-r_1280_720-f_jpg-q_x-xxyxx유태인들은 돈이 많다. 유태인들은 서로 서로 잘 도와준다. 그런데 뭐가 잘못이냐? 심지어 정부에서까지 그렇다면 이렇게 힘든 현 경제 상태를 해결하기 위해 우리 모두 유태인이 되자.라는 의제를 놓고 국민투표에 붙여서 프랑스 국민들의 동의를 얻는다. 예수를 죽인 것이 유태인이기때문에 유태인들이 미움을 샀다는 이야기를 놓고도 풍자와 해학이 펼쳐진다.

175535.jpg-r_1280_720-f_jpg-q_x-xxyxx유태인이면서 돈을 벌지 못해서 동거녀에게 구박을 받던 한 남자는 유태인 하지 않겠다고 부모에게 선언을 했다가 부모가 로또에 당선되자 다시 유태인 되겠다고 부모에게 돌아오는 해프닝도 벌어진다.

유럽 사회에서 일어나는 일들을 잘 이해하지 못하면 이해하기 힘든 영화일 수도 있다. 어쨋든 난, 이 영화를 너무 재미있게 보면서 발작의 작품집 ‘코메디 휴맨’을 떠올렸다. 인간 사회에서 일어나는 일들은 어찌보면 정말 코메디에 불과한 것일지도 모른다.  이 영화를 통해서 전세계에 유태인이 12백만명 정도 흩어져 살고 있고 그 숫자는 전세계 인구의 0.2프로에 불과하다는 사실도 알았다.

    나도 이 영화 한번 보고 싶어요.

      한국 내에서도 생각이 다른 사람이 많쟎아요.
      다양한 생각들이 서로가 서로의 생각을 존중해주면서 사는 사회가 이상적인 사회일텐데 말이죠.
      이 영화가 서울에 들어가도 이해 받을 수 있을지는 잘 모르겠습니다만 한번쯤 다른 세계를 구경한다는
      생각으로 보시면 되겠죠.
